KEEPING THE ENTREPRENEURIAL SPIRIT ALIVE.
Financial Crisis Expert Ginette Muller explains why she believes she is the right person for the job when it comes to helping business owners get back on their feet.
Ginette Muller is familiar with the financial stress of others, having qualified as an Accountant over 20 years ago. She says, “There are plenty of people who can help your business when it’s smooth sailing, but with me, you get someone who can navigate choppier waters.” These days Ginette’s primary focus is on helping people in business who may have hit a rough patch financially to get back on their feet. She strongly believes that the entrepreneurial spirit is “part of our culture and we don’t ever want to see that change.” One of the ways Ginette helps business owners is by assisting them with ‘Safe Harbour’. Safe Harbour is a protective environment that allows business directors to receive advice from an expert such as Ginette while buying them more time to work things out and put in place a turnaround plan to avoid insolvency. When asked what her advice would be to anyone going through financial struggles, Ginette strongly recommends people be wary of accepting advice from untrustworthy advisors or “experts” who only know how to help you with some of the problems.
Ginette says in this case what often happens is that the part they can fix goes well – only to be wrecked by the part that they know nothing about. Ginette also advises that business owners “Make sure any financial advisor is registered with the Australian Securities Investments Commission (ASIC) or Australian Financial Security Authority (AFSA).” The growing concern around untrustworthy advisors is one of the reasons Ginette became a member of the Insolve Panel.
Insolve is a group of highly experienced and qualified financial and Insolvency experts who work together to provide the best possible advice for their clients. Ginette and the other panellists at Insolve each bring something different to the table, but one thing they all have in common is a passion for keeping business people on track. Like Ginette, everyone at Insolve believes that people who put themselves out there and get involved in business should be celebrated and encouraged. Ginette says “Sometimes there are roadblocks along the way that we need help overcoming. Those who do stumble should be encouraged to get back up and give it another go!”
