RECORD CROWDS WITNESS HISTORY AS WINX RETIRES AND CLAIMS HER 33RD STRAIGHT VICTORY ON DAY 2 OF THE CHAMPIONSHIPS – LONGINES QUEEN ELIZABETH STAKES DAY

Sailor Brinkley Cook, Jesinta Franklin, Kate Waterhouse, Samantha Jade, Rachel Griffiths and a stable of TV stars farewelled the 2019 Longines World’s Best Racehorse, Winx, on Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes Day at Royal Randwick.

One of the greatest racehorses to have graced the turf, the seven-year-old daughter of Street Cry (IRE) out of Vegas Showgirl (NZL) retires with more than $26 million odd in prizemoney, 37 wins including 33 straight victories and 25 Group 1’s while winning the hearts of millions the world over. It’s no surprise General Admission and Corporate Hospitality totally sold out.

At the helm of the day’s celebrations were Sailor Brinkley Cook, star model and ATC Autumn Racing International Guest, Jesinta Franklin, 2019 Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes Ambassador, Kate Waterhouse, ATC Autumn Ambassador, Samantha Jade, Singer, Chloe Esposito, and Pentathlon Gold Medallist Olympian while a stable of TV stars from the Seven Network were also trackside including My Kitchen Rules duo Matt Gawthrop and Luke Stewart and Home and Away cast members.

The Prime Minister of Australia Scott Morrison was also seen trackside enjoying the festivities, alongside the Governor General Sir Peter Cosgrove and swimming legend Dawn Fraser, who got up close and personal with Winx on-course for a special photo post her gallop.

Racegoers dressed in style and elegance for the world-renowned Longines Prize for Elegance, awarded throughout Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival. Presented by Vogue’s Edwina McCann and judged by Jesinta Franklin, Mildred Elwood received a gorgeous Longines DolceVita wristwatch for the superb elegance of her outfit.

Attendees also enjoyed Autumn Racing’s newest edition, the TAB Betting Barn. Featuring a Heineken Bar and special elevated viewing platform, it was the perfect place to spend the day, while the new and sold out The Botanic presented by Veuve Clicquot, was one of the hottest tickets in town.
